Monterey Area Diving Information |
|
The more I dive other places in the world the more I like diving in Monterey and Carmel. The diversity, beauty and challenge of diving here is just plain unmatched by anything else in the world. I'm sure half of you readers are now convinced that I'm certifiably insane but I swear it's true. Diving here isn't for wimps with cold, surge, swell and limited visibility being the order of the day. These things, however, are really the reason the diving here is so good! The cold, nutrient rich waters with lots of water motion makes for a filter feeder's paradise. The anemones, sponges, hydrocorals and other invertebrates here can be breathtakingly beautiful. Coral reefs have nothing on a good wall in Carmel. Places like the Pinnacle of Tremendous Proportions or Local's Ledge are so colorful that they practically sear your eyeballs when you put a light on them. Anyway, enough editorializing. On this page you'll find lots of info on diving in the greater Monterey area, including the all important current conditions report.
